PZ Cussons: Manchester & Lagos
Expert Alliance was commissioned by FTSE-250 company PZ Cussons to provide Alan James' services as Project Director. His responsibilities in this role included defining and leading delivery of a £50m JV capital project and associated consumer product launch, in Nigeria, one of the world’s most dynamic, but difficult, business environments.
The assignment also called for development of the business case to manufacture UNICEF’s famine-relief foodstuff close-to-use in Africa, rather than import, plus building relationships with NGOs involved in this sector.
On the ‘front-line’, Alan’s work included developing the strategy to leverage the company’s major investment into a new foodstuffs processing plant to, on average, double the daily earnings of the rural population supplying it with raw materials.
On the corporate level, the role included global location selection for various business units, with a view to increasing productivity, simplifying logistics and optimising the company’s global tax position.
As an amusement for readers, we have complied a 'Greatest Hits' video of Lagos traffic, shot during the journey work on the ground in Lagos.
