VP Worldwide Business Development
Virgin Hyperloop One
Alan James served as the first Vice President for Worldwide Business Development at Virgin Hyperloop One.
He established worldwide sales activity for the 1,080 km/h (670 mph) transport system originally proposed by Elon Musk in 2013 and which was demonstrated as a full-scale, fully functional, prototype by Virgin Hyperloop One in 2017.
With projects spanning the globe from Finland to Australia, Alan used his considerable experience of the planning, politics, finance and economics of major projects to act as the primary contact for cities, regions and countries seeking to revolutionise their transport and economic competitiveness with hyperloop systems, operating at speeds up to 300 metres per second (1,080 km/h or 671 mph).
In Europe, Alan is intensively engaged with the EU Institutions and the Governments of Member States where hyperloop projects are proposed. Alan's role with Virgin Hyperloop One included presentations to investors on Wall Street and in the City of London, frequently appearing as the subject matter expert in tandem with company's investment bankers, Morgan Stanley.
Having established the global business development operation, Alan now retains an advisory role with Virgin Hyperloop One.
